Frequently asked questions

What if I am a sole proprietor, self-employed, a freelancer or a single-member LLC?

You report your business on Schedule C with your personal return (Form 1040). Choose Sole proprietors above, in either way to file.

What is File with expert help?

You enter your business details, and a business tax pro answers your questions as you go and reviews your return before it is filed.

What is Hand off my taxes?

A business tax pro prepares, signs and files your business return for you, from start to finish. You send your documents and approve the return.

What are the filing deadlines for partnerships and S-corps?

For calendar-year businesses, partnership returns (Form 1065) and S-corp returns (Form 1120-S) are generally due March 15. Sole proprietors file with their personal return, generally due April 15. A date that falls on a weekend or holiday moves to the next business day.

How can I file an extension?

Partnerships and S-corps can get an automatic six-month extension with Form 7004, and sole proprietors with Form 4868. An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay tax you owe.

What do I need to send?

Your income and expense records or bookkeeping reports, last year's business return, any Forms 1099 you received, and for S-corps and partnerships, each owner's details. Upload them in your secure portal.

How is my price set?

Each card has a starting price. Your price depends on your business and the forms your return needs, and we confirm it before we start.

When can I reach my tax pro?

Message your tax pro any time from your secure portal or the app, or book a call or an office visit.
